Customer Reviews

Best soap I've ever bought I have been using this specific soap for awhile now. It is the only soap I use, it has replaced all my other soaps. The smell is great, it's a strong smokey smell. It makes the bathroom smell like campfire and leather. The smell does fade dramatically after you rinse it off, mixes well with colognes. My skin is clear, any acne inhaled is gone, eczema has cleared up, and my surgical scars are fading. I highly recommend this soap. 5The best pine tar soap I bought this soap because I have eczema. My skin gets red, flaky and itchy often. I noticed that when this happened to my scalp, Neutrogena T-gel was the only thing that helped it (besides prescription stuff) and I had tried rubbing the shampoo on my body as well.I decided to look for a pine tar soap, but the overwhelming majority of the ones I found seemed to be using it purely to evoke an 'old timey' scent rather than do any medicating. The fact they use it for the scent is mind boggling to me because pine tar (and coal tar) smell like motor oil. That may be the biggest downside of this soap, it will make your shower smell like a garage and you may want to get a soap case to keep it in when you aren't using it.This brand was one of the only ones that actually tells you how much pine tar is in it and focused on medical benefits, so I gave it a shot. It works well when my skin is flaky and helps take it back to normal. It doesn't do much if my skin is just red and itchy, but the flakiness is the hardest part to get rid of for me (and probably causes some itchiness). It isn't a miracle worker, but it does the job and works better than normal soap. I use it whenever I have a flare up. It is pretty cheap too, so they have acquired a new customer for sure. I also use their other soaps which are great for people with sensitive skin. 5The Holy Grail This is the stuff!A product that actually contains a solid amount of Pine Tar. Not just a trace enough amount to give a generic product a specialty name, like so many other (nearly all?) Pine Tar shampoo and soaps. I've begrudingly ordered and used countless Pine Tar shampoos, for my dry and occasionally scabby scalp, that nearly advertise the lack of pine tar they contain and are complimented by a bunch of chemical ingredients unknown to me- because I could find no alternatives. Until Now.I use this bar as shampoo. It lathers good. I love it for traveling because it is a bar. One bar will last me 1.5-2 months using it almost every day. It smells pleasant. It contains a couple real, edible sounding, ingredients, and none of the chemical gunk that amazingly pollutes so many shampoo and soap products that purport to be natural, healthy, and medicinal- and that unsurprisingly don't work. Most importantly this product works. Wow. Thank you. I have tried everything; conventional, non-conventional, coconut oil, coal tar, organic, Grandpa's, the psychic stuff, Dr. prescribed stuff, you name it. But this works better and is inexpensive to boot. This review is from a dude with life long dandruff and scalp issues who purchased this product and is surprisingly satisfied. I am not affiliated with this company, nor had I ever heard of them. I chose to spend some time writing this review to support this product and spread the love with other frustrated folk with irritated scalps. 5LOVE IT!!! Smells like I have been out camping in a pine forest, which made wife say it makes me smell like I have been out camping with a pine wood fire and need to take a shower. Smelling like I have been out camping- super :-) ; annoying wife-priceless! ;-))) . 5Pine tar soap This soap is remarkable. I have been dealing with psoriasis for years. Could never take a shower without ooddlles of body cream. The first time I used this soap my skin felt better than ever. Saving lots of money on body lotions. Thank you. It smells terrible when using it but it dissipates quickly. Love, love, love this soap. I even used it on my head as I also have scalp psoriasis. Leaves hair clean and manageable. NO ITCHING, thank you 5Great, but know what it is you are buying! This stuff is great. but you need to know what you are buying. With 20% pine tar, it smells/you smell/the whole bathroom smells like you have spent the entire weekend in the same clothes sitting around the campfire. (There are a few other brands that have added pine oil, which gives more of a fresh pine smell along with the smoke smell, but this is not one of those.)If this is your first experience with pine tar, you may be shocked. However, if you are familiar with what it is and what it smells like, this is an excellent choice. In other words, this is pine tar soap for pine tar soap users. 5Great for Itchy Skin -- Both People and PetsThis pine tar soap has a very strong, campfire smoky aroma, which some people may find overpowering, but which I like. It reminds me of Colgin's Liquid Smoke, which I marinate chicken in (delicious!). It lathers brown, but it rinses right out and doesn't stain anything: not my white towels or my white cat. I got it to deal with my itchy scalp and dandruff and also to deal with itchy skin on my cat, who was scratching her head a lot. You don't get instant results, but you do get them in time. After using it 4-5 times, my dandruff is gone. After about 7 times, my scalp rarely itches. I have given my cat a complete bath one time and just a head shampoo twice more. She is still scratching a little, but nowhere nearly as much or as violently as she was before I started using the pine tar soap on her. I'm confident that in a few more weeks and a few more washes, this soap will take care of it. The smoky smell has diminished after a few weeks, but since I like it, it was never an issue for me. Pine tar soap is safe to use on dogs and cats as well as people. With regular use, it can deter fleas and ticks. Love this soap!5It's got some legs Great texture, lathers decently ( I have slightly hard water ), and has a soothing effect on the skin. I'm plagued by psoriasis on my elbows, it acts up in the winter months. I figured I'd give this old home remedy a try and fortunately it has worked well for me. We are all different so your mileage may vary. This is good soap that does a good job, you will likely notice the strong smell but it dissipates within about 30-45 min after I exit the shower, best of luck. 5Highly Recommend! Is the smell intense? Yes, but only in the shower/bathroom. I would say that the scent is a cross between a campfire and smoky beef jerky. However, the smell dissipates and no one can smell it when they are near me, even I can't really smell it on my skin after bathing! This soap was suggested to me by a doctor because I am currently suffering from allergic eczema/atopic dermatitis that is aggravated by pretty much all beauty/bathing products. This stuff lathers up really well and I can even use it on my scalp (I have really long hair, almost to my waist). My skin isn't at all bothered by this soap and even looks healthier since I have been using it, which is a major plus! I will absolutely continue to buy and use this soap!5Does the job well! I have occasional psoriasis of the scalp. I used it to wash my hair 2X n was very pleased with the results. Hair felt very clean. As has been stated b4, the scent is strong n I gave it 5 * for that bc that tells me the pine tar is in the product n that's what I want. I washed my hair a third time with another brand n the scent left. The volume of suds was fine to me: it was full of lather n did the job I bought it to do. Very plsd. 5Awesome in spite of itself When I was around 37 I entered a phase of life that includes sensitive skin that reacts with a rash to just about everything. Too much sun - horrible burn and itchy rash. Too much winter cold - itchy, flaky eczema. Fabric softeners, detergents, girly soaps, wool clothing, hot showers, forget about it. I've had limited success with prescription creams and allergy pills, and I've spent a fortune on OTC remedies. My mom used a pine tar shampoo when I was a kid so I asked her what that was for and learned about how useful this can be for dandruff which I don't have (yet) and itchy, sensitive bad skin. I ordered this soap based on reviews. I was not happy at first. My bathroom smells like campfire smoke, and the water runs off your body the color of coffee. That said, it's not staining my tub or my white towels. I'm getting used to the smell and it doesn't linger on my skin at all. And it's working! I've been washing up with this soap daily for over a week and I've had no skin reactions. I only slightly have that tender, fragile verge-of-a-rash feeling on my upper arms that had become my new normal. The soap is a little bit drying so I expect to have to use more moisturizer once winter weather returns, but I'll definitely continue to buy this. 5Must buy!!!! This Soap is amazing. I'm 7 months pregnant and I have eczema and my little bundle has made my eczema flare more than it ever has. I used the soap once so far and all of the damage skin is just falling off. I haven't felt this good about my skin in a very long time I feel so grateful. I would attach pictures but I doubt Amazon would let me publish them. But I will give it a try anyway. 5
